Do we need the time of birth for both of us?
Yes, for both of you: without the time there is no ascendant. The time is on the birth announcement or can be requested from the municipality, a nice excuse to call each other's mothers.
Is this astrology or astronomy?
Both, each in its own place. The positions are astronomy: the real sky, calculated for the date, time and place of both of you. The interpretation is astrological tradition, written as a story, for inspiration and enjoyment, not a prediction.
Can I see what it will look like first?
